The second of five courses, the Anatomy/Physiology/Pathology courses offers an integrative approach to providing a basic foundation in anatomy, physiology, and pathology on the Skeletal system and Muscular System. By combining all three disciplines into one course, students are able to assimilate structure, function, and dysfunction in a single learning environment. Application of these concepts to the practice of massage, and the effects of massage, are stressed throughout. The courses also introduce terminology, concepts of health and wellness, and tools of assessment. APP courses need to be taken in sequence but more than one A/P/P class may be taken in any one term. APP I textbooks are used for this class.

In these introductory, hands-on classes, students palpate bony landmarks and the origins and insertions of muscles, learn specific muscle actions and joint movements, and begin to understand and use anatomical terminology.
