Come bake with Chef Sandy in preparing small breads, just in time for Easter and Mother's day. Sweek and savory, simple to elegant, we'll bake those mouthfuls of delight for breakfast or brunch or to accompany a meal. Think English muffins, cornbread or soda bread, hot cross buns, muffins, scones, bread sticks or dinner rolls, lots to choose from in this hands-on class, start to finish. Everyone will go home with samples of a day's worth of baking. Bring an apron and wear closed-toe shoes for safety, and bring a veggie, rice, beans or pasta to throw into a community soup pot for lunch. Meet in the Center building food court next to the Titan Bookstore.

The mighty honey bee is the focus of study for researchers at Oregon State University, which has a master pollinator on staff and its own honey bee research lab. We’ll visit OSU’s Oak Creek Center for Urban Horticulture and learn about how bees and honey are cultivated. Then, we’ll visit the Corvallis-based meadery, Nectar Creek, for a tour of their new facility and taste samples of mead brewed with honey made by regional bees. Bottles from their seasonal selection will be available for purchase.
