Printmaking on Main: Linocut and Etch

Beginning level course in relief and intaglio printmaking, including a combination of sevveral of the following processes; linoleum cut, wood engraving, digital photo etching, drypoint, line etching and lasercut woodcut. You'll create orginal edition prints. The aesthetics and history of printmaking will also be covered. Design and create original editioned prints and learn perceptual skills, compositional development, and basic thematic awareness. Students will also learn the safest and most sustainable printmaking practices available, usimg acylic grounds and ink specially formulated to clean up with soap and water. 

Statler or Mars Eraser (white plastic eraser)
Tracing paper roll or pad
Sharpies, black
White acrylic paint and a small brush (for sketching on proofs)
Apron or smock
Gloves (nitrile or latex or dishwashing gloves)
Inexpensive portfolio to protect and carry your prints (or make one from cardboard and duct tape)
An art box or a fishing tackle box to house your supplies (or sturdy shoe box)
One large box of baby wipes
One roll of paper towels
Etching needle
Inexpensive linoleum carving tool set
