Online lecture, lab and clinical practice in application of dental sealants. This course meets the requirements for certification from the Oregon Board of Dentistry. The course consists of 3 hours of didactic and 6 hours of laboratory and clinical placement on two patients. Students will have instruction in dental anatomy, dental materials, concepts of bonding, sealant legal requirements, goals of sealant placement, indications and contraindications, patient selection criteria and dental sealants in a prevention program. Sealant materials, armamentarium and placement are experienced in lab and clinical care. Moisture control, tooth preparation, etching and sealant material manipulation are demonstrated and practiced. Evaluation criteria, chemical and light cure products, and sealant adjustment techniques are implemented during patient clinical care.
