Online Course: Preparation for an entry level sterilization tech position within a dental office. The course includes the role of immunizations, personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, disinfection, sterilization, and environmental infection control procedures, principles of biohazardous communication, CDC and OSHA regulations and the role of a sterilization tech in dentistry. Lab and clinical experiences apply principles and policies to prevent transmission of disease; infection control strategies, hand hygiene, PPE use, treatment room turn around, management of a reprocessing center, management of beginning and end of day protocols and application OSHA regulations, biological monitoring and waterline management.
Student must be age 18,have proof of immunizations required for a health care professional in the state of Oregon; wear scrubs to labs and clinical, bilingual students welcomed, textbook is required.
